Our Weaving Plant is one of the largest and most advanced in the entire United Kingdom

Our weaving plant is made up of forty four high speed Dornier rigid rapier jacquard weaving machines. Each has the capability of handling eight weft colours and 'two over' designs as standard.

The rapier jacquard machines are perfectly complimented by an additional eighteen dobby looms giving the ultimate in flexibility of production and ensuring customer satisfaction in terms of quality and delivery times.

James Thornber weaves in excess of 100000 metres of fabric every week for the Domestic and Contract Upholstery market. The remainder of our versatile capacity is is utilsed for window blinds, curtains, blankets and apparel.

We have a sample warping department that gives us the ability to produce short lengths of fabric on a prototype basis. This gives the customer a first class opportunity to see their construction, colour, design and performance projections translated into a real-world finished product.

Our in-house store of fabric and material enables us to respond very quickly to our customers' demands. We keep an exceptionally comprehensive store of Cotton, Nylon, Linen, Wool, Viscose, Polyester, Acrylic, Polypropylene along with a range of inherent flame retardant types - our specialities are Chenille and Boucles.

Customer service is at the very heart of our business and has been crucial in the continued success of our business.

In addition to the stringent quality control routines enforced for the raw materials, development and pre-weaving stages of production each and every metre of fabric is subject to the most critcal inspection. Not only at the loom but again, prior to despatch by experienced and well-trained inspectors.
